Local SEO

Local SEO is the process of optimising a business's online presence to appear in location-based search results — particularly in Google's local pack and Google Maps.

Subject: SEO

When someone searches for a service near them — "Webdesign Agentur Hamburg" or "dentist near me" — Google shows a local pack of results above the organic listings. Local SEO is the set of practices that help a business appear in these results.

Key local SEO ranking factors

The primary local ranking factors are: Google Business Profile completeness and accuracy, review quantity and quality, NAP consistency (Name, Address, Phone number across all online directories), local citations, and proximity to the searcher.

Google Business Profile

A fully optimised Google Business Profile is the foundation of local SEO. Every field should be completed: business category, description, services, opening hours, photos, and Q&A. Regular posts and active review responses signal to Google that the business is active and engaged.

Local SEO for service businesses in Germany

In Germany, local SEO is particularly valuable for trades, medical practices, legal services, and consultancies. Appearing in the top three of the local pack for a city-specific query can drive a significant volume of qualified inbound leads at zero per-click cost.
